Vasuki Tal has a scenic beauty providing beautiful views of the Himalayas. The trek to Vasuki Tal is considered a difficult trek. The lake is completely frozen in winters and the place is famous for one of the most famous flowers found in the Himalayas called the Brahma Kamal. The lake has crystal clear water and the mesmerising view of the Mandakini River and Chaukhamba peak is a great sight from the lake.
The trek is a continuous ascent with narrow trial. One has to cross the Chaturangi Glacier and Vasuki Glacier to reach Vasuki Tal. One can stay at the place in Tents and then return back to Kedarnath or Gaurikund the other day or one can return back to Kedarnath the same day. Songanga originates from the Vasuki tal. There are varied Himalayan flowers found at the place.
According to the Hindu mythology, it is believed that Lord Vishnu took a bath at this lake on the occasion of Hindu festival Raksha Bandhan and this is the reason the Lake is known as Vasuki Tal or the Vasuki Lake.
One has to trek a distance of 8 kilometres from the Kedarnath Temple to reach Vasuki Tal as there is no motorable road to reach the place.
