Rishikesh is the Adventure Hub of Uttarakhand. There are a number of activities that adventure junkies would love to do in the city. White-water rafting, camping and bungee jumping are the most popular among the tourists visiting the city. There are a number of places including waterfalls and various ancient temples that can be visited in the city. The sitting Elephant: This is another restaurant in the city which serves the best of Chinese, Indian, International cuisines. The food is delicious in the place and the restaurant is a good option to go for dinner.

The city with a number of ancient temples has history which has many mythical stories.  The city was earlier called Hrishikesh when a famous saint Raibhya Rishi performed penance on the banks of the river and then God Vishnu appeared in the form of Hrishikesh. The famous places in the city like Lakshman Jhula, Bharat temple and Lakshman temples are the few ancient places which were named after the incidents relevant to these names in the History. Adi Shankaracharya established many places in Rishikesh and he was one of the most religious leaders of the contemporary times. Another version of history also says that Lord Vishnu killed the demon called Madhu in the city in the form of Hrishikesh which is from where the city got its name. There is a vast history of this city including the significance of all the places that are a part of the city. 

One of the most famous festivals celebrated in Rishikesh is the International Yoga and Musical Festival which is famous all over the country and is visited by people worldwide. This festival constitutes lectures and sessions on Yoga which are conducted by some of the best yoga teachers of the country. Another major festival is Saavan in the month of july. Meditation and Satsang are also held in the city frequently in which devotional songs are taught in the ashrams of the city. There is another famous festival of the city which is known as Kayak Festival which is an opportunity for the kayakers to show their talents as boat cress, down river race and mass boat cross. People from different regions come here to take part in as well as to see this adventure rush held in Rishikesh. Religious fairs are held throughout the year in the city as well as Hindu festivals like Holi and Diwali are celebrated with pleasure in the city.
