Nanda Devi temple is located at a distance of about 600 metres from Almora city center. The temple is opened at 6 am in the morning and is closed at 10:00 pm at night.
Nanda Devi is said to be the Goddess revered by the people of Garhwal and Kumaon regions. The goddess is believed to be the destroyer of the evil and saviour of the denizens in the hilly areas of Uttarakhand. The temple features a magnificent monument adorned with a stone crown encircled by a wooden roof. The impressive carvings are admired by the lovers of arts. Every year in the month of September a huge fair known as the Nanda Devi fair is held at the temple.
The ancient temple is believed to be 100 years old and is dedicated to goddess Nanda.
The temple can be reached by a shared taxi or even by walk from the Almora City center.
