As the name suggests, the temple is dedicated to snakes (nag). The temple is celebrated beautifully on the occassion of Nag Panchmi (usually in the month of May). The temple is located on a hill and the tourists need to climb the stairs to reach the temple.
Being on the height, temple offers beautiful views of Himalayas and DehraDun valley. The temple is located on the cart road, around 7 km from Mussoorie. On the festival of Nag Panchmi, the devotees feed the live snakes. Tourists have to be cautious to visit them temple of the festive occassion due to large crowd. The belief is that Lord Shiva visits the temple on the occassion of Nag Panchmi to bless the devotees.
On the Mussoorie DehraDun highway, a road bifurcates to Nag Devta temple. From there it is one km motorable road to the temple.
