Kilbury is a birding route in Nainital and there are about 580 species of birds at the sanctuary which makes it a Bird Watcher’s paradise. One can get a panoramic view of Himalayas along with a view of Tarai and Bahbar. The place is lined by lush Oak and Pine trees with the Rhododendron forests. The flora and fauna is immense at the place. It is also the home of Naina Devi Biosphere Reserve.
Collared Grosbeaks, Brown-Wood Owl, Forktails, White Throated Laughing Thrushes and many other species of birds can be seen at Kilbury. The route to the place is full of natural beauty. A lot of animals like Himalayan Goral, Leopards, Wild boar, red Fox and Sambhar can be spotted at the place. There is a tourist Bungalow at Kilbury for tourists.
Trekking can be a good option at Kilbury and one can try the local cuisine at the street shops. A pair of binoculars and a cap or a hat would be some of the best things to carry when going to Kilbury. It is suggested that one avoids going to the place in Monsoon and a light sweater or a shawl should be kept handy even in the summers.
One can easily get a shared taxi or can hire a taxi to reach to Kilbury.
