Kempty fall is one of the best picnic spots in Mussoorie. The falls are a major attraction for tourists visiting the city. There are a number of entertainment options in the location. There is a large market from the road to the fall where many interesting things like many different types of toys and also souvenirs are sold. There is a large children’s park with water slides and boating and another small lake with just boating in the nearby area of the fall.
Kempty fall is a cascading waterfall with water falling from a height of about 40 feet. The surrounding area of the fall is not very clean now but the nearby shops and water park add on to the attraction of the place as a whole which is still a not to be missed spot of Mussoorie.
History: At the time before independence, a British officer John Mekinan in 1835 used the location to conduct picnic and tea parties. This is assumed that because of this the place got its name as “Camp-Tea” which became as Kempty. This is how the waterfalls came to be recognized as.
Kempty falls can easily reached by public convenience that would be a bus from Mussoorie to the fall.
