Durga devi Zone is located in the North-eastern side of the Jim Corbett National Park. It is located at a distance of 28 kilometres from Ramnagar and the Durga Devi Gate is the entrance of this zone.
This zone is open from 15 October to 15 June.
The timings for safari in this zone are:
Winters-Morning safari from 7 am to 10 pm.
Evening safari from 2 pm to 5:30 pm
Summers- Morning safari from 6 am to 9:30 pm.
Evening safari from 3 pm to 6:30 pm.
The Durga Devi Zone is the untouched territory of the Corbett National Park and the elephant safari is considered the best between the jeep and elephant safari which are available in the zone. Lohachaur forest area is considered as the best place for bird watching. One can easily spot animals like crested laughing thrush, fishing eagle, slaty blue flycatcher and maroon orile in this zone.
Besides the various animals that are found in this zone, one of the most popular species of this zone is the Mahasheer fish which can be spotted some times in the river water. The entrance to this zone is located at a very close distance to some of the best resorts of the area. It is suggested that one carries one’s own binoculars to get a better view of the animals and to enjoy the animal sightseeing at its best.
Tourists can reach at the entrance by a shared taxi from Ramnagar and from the entrance the zone is very close and jeep safari or elephant safari, whatever is booked can take you to the Durga Devi Zone of the park.
