Dayara Bugyal Trek is an easy to moderate trek in Uttarakhand, whose base camp is Barsu Village. Barsu Village is located in Uttarkashi district of Uttarakhand. Barsu as a village is very close to Gangotri (approximately 80km via NH 34) and a trip to Gangotri Dham can be clubbed with Dayara Bugyal Trek. Barsu as such is a small village, however there are few hotels and resorts available for tourists, including GMVN Hotel (Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, Uttarakhand Government). There is a popular waterfall near Barsu village, called Barsu waterfall which is another tourist destination near Barsu. Barsu is just 7 hours journey from the state capital DehraDun.
The trek is famous for the pass through the dense forests. It is also famous for snow capped Himalayan views during winters.
Dayara Bugyal trek is an easy to moderate trek for summers. This is also a popular trekking destination during winters when Barsu and adjoining areas receive a lot of snowfall. Barsu is the base
camp for this trek.
Day 1: The trek from Barsu to Barnala is 4 km and can be covered in 4 hours. This trek is through Silver Oak and Deodhar forests. Barnala is an ideal place to setup a camp and night stay.
Day 2: The trek from Barnala to Dayara Bugyal is 4km and can be covered in 4 hours. Popular Himalayan peaks that are visible from Dayara Bugyal are Srikanth, Rudregaira, Gangotri I, II & III ,
Jaonli, Draupadi ka Danda I & II, Black peak and Bandarpunch.
(Optional): Bakaria top is the highest trekking point (around 12,000 ft above sea level) of Dayara Bugyal and trek to Bakaria Top is optional. Since there is no option to camp at Bakaria top, the to
and fro trek needs to be covered on the same day. Bakaria Top offers majestic views of Himalayas from top.
Day 3: The trek from Dayara Bugyal to Pichkiya is 8km, and can be covered in 6 hours. The trek comprises of forest stretches and small rivers for trekker's delight. The overnight camp stay at
Pichkiya is a wonderful experience, staying in between the forests.
Day 4: The trek from Pichkiya to Barsu is 5km and can be covered in 4 hours. It is mostly the descending route.
There are few hotels and resorts available for tourists, including GMVN Hotel (Garhwal Mandal Vikas Nigam, Uttarakhand Government) in Barsu Village. However, at Dayara Bugyal, camping is the only option, arranged by the trekking company.
The different tourism companies organizing trekking arrange for the food during the trek. It is recommended for the tourists to use a professional trekking services from a reputed company for such treks.
Since this is a trekking destination, tourists should expect trekking and camping as the activities.
