Chandi Devi Temple, Haridwar

Chandi Devi Temple is a very famous temple of Haridwar. The temple which is dedicated to Goddess Chandi devi also known as Chandrika was built by the king of Kashmir. The Chandi Devi Temple is also considered a part of the Panch Teerth or the five main pilgrimages of Haridwar and hence it is also known as Neel Parvat Teerth.
One can either trek a distance of three kilometres to the temple or go by the Chair-Car.The temple is an important place for devotees and is considered an important religious place for the Hindus. The whole city and river Ganga can be seen from the temple. Leather accessories are strictly prohibited in the temple premises. 

History
This temple was built by king Suchat Singh as the king of Kashmir in the year 1929. The main Deity in the temple was however installed by Adi Shankaracharya who is considered as one of the greatest priests of India. The temple is one of the most ancient temples in the country.

One can take the public transport to reach the base of the temple from where you can go by the chair-car to the temple.
