Brahma Kapal is a place of grave importance to the Hindus. It is the place where people pay homage which is known as “Pind Daan” to the dead souls of their ancestors and proffer shraddha to them.
According to the mythology it was the place where Lord Shiva relieved from his curse of killing Lord Brahma and it was the place where Lord Brahma’s head had fallen off from Lord Shiva’s trident. It is believed that Lord Brahma exists at this place and thus if someone does Shraddha Karma at the place for the departed souls of his family they get salvation from the cycle of birth and death.
One can walk the distance of about 100 metres to the North of Badrinath temple or 1 kilometre from Badrinath Bus Stand to reach Brahma Kapal.
