Baijnath Temple, Kausani

Baijnath Temple is located at a distance of 17 kilometres from Kausani on the banks of river Gomti in Gruda Valley. The temple is open from 7 am to 7 pm every day. The temple is located at a distance of 3 kilometres from Kot Bhramrari Temple.

Baijnath Temple is dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is the epitome of rich architecture and spiritual piety. The temple is built in traditional nagara style of architecture that owes its origin to Orissa. An idol of Nandi, the loyal chariot of Lord Shiva is situated in the entrance of the temple. The shivlingam is the center of all spiritual energy of the temple which is seeked by thousands of tourists every year.


History
The temple is located at the place which was once served as the capital of the Katyuri Dynasty and was constructed in the 12th century. As per the Legend Lord Shiva and his wife Parvati were married here at the confluence of river gaur Ganga and river Gomti.
